Imagine 5-year-olds ready and eager for kindergarten; first graders well-versed in the family life of ancient Egypt; or third graders who write and publish their own hardbound books; or fifth graders in a beginning band who can play complete songs for the Christmas program; or middle school students who provide a 1960’s era coffeehouse experience where the poems they read are their very own. Yes, we have all these, thanks to a challenging curriculum built on Core Knowledge.
Core Knowledge encompasses a very specific sequence of ideas and skills. It has been implemented from preschool through grade 8 which stresses both memorization of facts (like multiplication tables, and state capitals) as well as an understanding of content and concepts. So when your fourth grader starts discussing the medieval ages with you, he'll know what he is talking about!
