1st Graduating Class of Bella Vista

  • Waleed Ahmed - Waleed is graduating this year and has decided to go to University of Illinois Urbana Champagne. He is going to major in nuclear engineering. That school ranks number 5 in the top engineering schools. He is graduating with a 4.4 GPA. He is ranked 7 in the class of 358. His last SAT score was 2000, which is in the 90th percentile. He has been a member of a couple of clubs, but with taking 6 AP classes didn't really do any extra-curricular.
  • Luke Colbert - Tracy High School Accomplishments In his Freshman year he was named the Tracy High Band's Outstanding Freshman of the Year. Participated in the following Honor Bands(an Honor Band is when the best musicians of every High School in the area mentioned come together to give a concert): San Joaquin County - 2009,2010,2011,2012. California All-Northern - 2011,2012(in 2012 Luke was the only student from all of the High Schools in San Joaquin County that made it into this Honor Band). California All State - 2011,2012(in 2012 Luke was one only two students from all of the High Schools in San Joaquin County that made it into this Honor Band). In this, his Senior year, Luke will earn the Performing Arts Magnet Diploma. Is receiving a "Block T" from Tracy High School for Community Service hours. He earned it at the Jazz Competition that he was in this weekend in Reno: Certificate for Outstanding MusicianshipTracy High had their Band Awards on Friday night and Luke got the Quincy Jones Musicianship Award for "contributions and creativity in multiple areas of music". He then received the honor of being crowned the Senior King of the Band, crown and all.Future Plans -Luke will be attending University of the Pacific this fall, majoring in music. Has received an Excellence in Performance Scholarship from the University
  • Matt Gainor -Matt has had a great 4 years at RCS. He received a sports varsity letter with 3 years of soccer and 2 years of basketball. Aside from school he just earned his Eagle Scout rank in boy scouting! He plans to attend a JC in the fall and after two years wants to go into the Air Force with the Para-Rescue division.
  • Melvin McElrath- Over the past four years, Melvin has been busy doing a variety of things, including playing on the tennis and soccer team at Modesto Christian, and serving as an officer in several school clubs. However, his biggest successes have been in art. Here is a brief summary: Young Masters Show 2010-2011: Mixed Media-Honorable Mention and Painting-2nd Place. ACSI Art Show 2010-2011: Two Excellent Ribbons. Young Masters Show 2011-2012: Black and White Category-Honorable Mention. ACSI Art Show 2011-2012: Best of Show-Charcoal and Best of Show-Overall. Melvin will be attending San Jose State University and will be double majoring in Computer Science and Art.
  • Jacob Smith - Jake’s plans got adjusted a few months ago from his cardiologist. He wanted to do ROTC and eventually be a pilot, but that’s a no go. So for now he is planning on attending Las Positas as he pursues other avenues. He is considering maybe attorney but not sure yet. His biggest pieces have been this year. He was a part of the Link Crew team welcoming the incoming Freshman, he is on the Dive and Swim Team headed to Championships this weekend and has qualified for Sectionals in a couple of weeks. He was nominated for Prom King. He participated in the Hire Me First program at school this year also.
